Hayden Hackney has signed a new contract, committing his future to the Boro until summer 2026.

It's a reward for the midfielder's fine form having broken onto the first team scene over recent months.

Hackney, 20, was handed a first Sky Bet Championship start under the stewardship of interim boss Leo Percovich in October, and scored his first professional goal in the 4-1 win at Wigan Athletic a few weeks later.

He has continued to play an important role under Michael Carrick, playing almost every minute of the Heach Coach's tenure so far.

Redcar born, Hackney joined Boro's Academy at Under-10 level. The new deal is his latest success, having also recently made his international bow with Scotland's Under-21s.
