Boro First, a unique new fanzine, is now on sale from MFC Official.
The fanzine's innovation is that its contributions come entirely from those with learning disabilities. Part of the MyBoroMyShirt campaign, which is using the Boro shirt to reach out and inspire the wider Teesside community, the disabled people's illustrations and creative writing provide a different and distinct perspective on our club and town.
The issue is on sale for £1 at the club shop at the Riverside Stadium, with all proceeds donated to two locally-based charities, Middlesbrough First and Larchfield Community, who both do invaluable work for adults with learning disabilities.
Creative writer James Harris held two classes with more than 30 brothers and sisters from Middlesbrough First at Larchfield Community, which is a specialist facility set in around 160 acres of rural farmland and home to a number of disabled people. Boro defender Ryan Giles was also warmly welcomed to Larchfield in recent weeks to meet the community there.
The fanzine was then compiled by Fly Me To The Moon editor Robert Nichols, who said that such was the outpouring of creativity that two fanzines could easily have been filled.
MyBoroMyShirt is a project championed by the club and MFC Foundation as well as Middlesbrough Council, Borderlands Creative People and Places and Middlesbrough Supporters Forum.
