Ardent Boro fan and presenter of ‘A Swift Word’ Owen Swift was named head coach of the season at the Wheelchair Football Association end of season awards.

Owen and fellow Teesside Steel Powerchair football coach Paul Pearson scooped the gong after a season that saw Teesside PFC gatecrashing the Premiership's top-three after being favourites for relegation.

On a successful night for the club, Teesside player Tyler Reeve took also took second place in the Goals Beyond Grass Premiership Player of the Season and Mitchell Tinkler came third in the young player of the year awards.

Owen said: “I'm very proud of the team who have all worked very hard, and I'm especially pleased for our number 11 Tyler, who has been picked to represent England in Australia for the World Cup.”

The volunteer-run club has been in operation since 2018. They now have two teams with the senior side in the Premier Division of the National League, which is fiercely competed over five weekends each season in Nottingham.
