This World Suicide Prevention Day, we're showing our support for local charity If U Care Share.
There were more than 5,000 suicides in the UK and Ireland last year, each one a tragedy affecting the lives of many others, too. Every suicide is preventable; but not being OK, and discussing your feelings, is still widely stigmatised.
Organisations such as If U Care Share aim to tackle that stigma, and support those in our community in their time of need.
Ahead of our recent first team fixture against Queens Park Rangers, Boro's first team players wore 'Inside Out' t-shirts - raising awareness for If U Care Share's campaign to get more people opening up and talking about their mental health.
Players from Boro's Academy were part of an informative and engaging workshop with If U Care Share, held at the Riverside, just one of many that the charity undertakes with local schools and educational establishments each year.
If U Care Share began in memory of Daniel O’Hare, who, in 2005, took his own life at the age of 19. Daniel had no previous history of mental health problems nor had he shown any outward signs of his intentions.
After raising £50,000 from the sales of wristbands at football clubs, If U Care Share was registered as an official charity. The organisation has three main aims; prevention, intervention & support of those bereaved by suicide.
