Boro's Under-21 side took another step towards qualifying for the end of the season play-offs after leaving Fulham with a point on Monday.

Goals from Pharrell Willis and George Gitau twice gave Mark Tinkler's side the lead, but the hosts hit back on both occasions to secure a draw.

It took just six minutes for Boro to take the lead when Willis converted after good work by Gitau.

Luke Woolston came close to doubling the advantage with a header before Fulham levelled moments later, courtesy of Terrell Works.

Matthew Hoppe, making his first U21s appearance of the season, went close to restoring the advantage, but Gitau made no mistake, Luke Woolston claiming the assist.

Chances were at a premium, but Woolston had a shot blocked and Afonso Lindo sent an effort over the top as Boro had the better of the opening period.

It was the home side who started the second half on the front foot, and Fulham hit the post twice and had a couple of shots blocked as they looked for a way back.

The equaliser came shortly before the hour-mark when Callum Osmond headed home from close range.

The game continued in stop-start fashion and Woolston went closest to scoring a winner when he sent a free-kick wide.
