Boro Women get their WFA Cup campaign underway with a trip to Darwen FC Ladies.
Read up on their cup opponents here.
The background
The Salmonesses sit second in the North West Women's Regional League after six games and a perfect start to the league, having won every game they have played so far.
In those six games, Darwen have scored 26 goals so far making them the second-highest goalscorers in the league.
The Salmonesses come off the back of a 4-1 win over FC United of Manchester despite being one of the favourites after being relegated from Tier 4.
Key players
With 11 goals so far Maddison McKenna has come to life this season, scoring more in seven games than in the last three seasons combined, contributing to almost half the goals Darwen have scored so far this season.
Sarah Greenhalgh has a rich pedigree of scoring goals having been the top scorer in both the Burnley side that won the 2017/18 and 2018/19 and has played every game so far for the Salmonesses, netting three times.
Saffron Jordan has played over 250 games at Championship side Blackburn Rovers and scored over 100 goals in her time at the club since 2014, she joined Darwen in the summer in what was a real coup for the side and has unsurprisingly been a key player in the Salmonesses squad since.
