Plymouth Argyle are the Good Friday visitors to the Riverside for a match which could have ramifications at both ends of the table.
Here is a closer look at the Pilgrims...
The background
Argyle are aiming to secure a third successive season in the Championship, having been promoted as League One champions in 2023.
They survived on the final day last season and were aiming to progress under the management of Wayne Rooney this term.
The Pilgrims started strongly at home, beating Sunderland, Luton Town and Blackburn Rovers by early-October, but away points were harder to come by and Rooney departed in late-December with the club bottom of the standings.
Respite was found in the FA Cup, with Argyle claiming the Premier League scalps of Brentford and Liverpool on their way to the fifth round.
They remain at the foot of the Championship, but just three points separate them from the safety line following wins in their last two home games, against Norwich City and Sheffield United.
The boss
Argyle turned to Miron Muslić in the aftermath of Rooney’s departure, with the Bosnian having previously been in charge of Belgian side Cercle Brugge.
He inspired the team to their famous 1-0 victory over Liverpool in the FA Cup and is now aiming to work similar heroics in the league.
Although Argyle remain bottom, Muslić has picked up 20 points from his 17 games, beating West Bromwich Albion, Millwall, Portsmouth, Norwich and Sheffield United along the way.
Four games remain as Muslić looks to pull off a great escape.
Key players
Frontman Ryan Hardie could be key to Argyle’s hopes of survival in the coming weeks. He has plundered nine goals in the Championship so far this season, making him the club’s top goalscorer, and has proved particularly vital recently.
Argyle’s January additions of defenders Nikola Katić and Maksym Talovierov helped to give the team a fighting chance of beating the drop. Both have been among their best performers since, although injury may rule the pair out today.
Forward Mustapha Bundu has caused havoc on several occasions, with he and Hardie often supported by Callum Wright.
Bali Mumba and Nathanael Ogbeta provide a threat from the wing-back positions while another vital figure at the back is Julio Pleguezuelo, who joined in 2023 from FC Twente.
Past meetings
The reverse fixture ended in a 3-3 draw at Home Park in September, with goals from Jonny Howson, Hayden Hackney and Emmanuel Latte Lath seeing Boro battle back three times from losing positions.
Last season's fixture at the Riverside saw Argyle win 2-0.
