Lukas Engel helped FC Cincinnati to a fourth straight MLS victory as they got the better of Chicago Fire.
Cincinnati are level on points with Eastern Conference leaders Charlotte after the 3-2 away win, in which Engel played the full 90 minutes.
It is set to be an exciting end to the season for Alex Gilbert and Charlton Athletic. The Addicks stormed to a 4-0 Easter Monday triumph at League One promotion rivals Wycombe Wanderers, hot on the heels of a Good Friday win over Northampton Town. Gilbert came on as a substitute in both games and Charlton are fourth, four points behind second-placed Wrexham with two games remaining.
Stockport County are also assured of at least a play-off place in League One after they came from behind to beat Huddersfield Town 2-1. Micah Hamilton was among the substitutes.
Sammy Silvera started Blackpool’s 2-1 defeat to Wrexham, having come on as a substitute in their Good Friday victory at Stevenage. The Tangerines now need to win all three of their remaining games to have a chance of a play-off place.
Josh Coburn played the full 90 as Millwall defeated Norwich City 3-1, as did Jack Hannah in Queen of the South’s win by the same scoreline at Kelty Hearts. The Doonhamers hold a play-off position.
Nathan Simpson came on as a substitute as Spennymoor Town kept their National League North play-off hopes alive with a 2-0 win at South Shields.
Also in that division, Shea Connor made his Darlington debut in their 1-0 loss at Scarborough Athletic. Hazeem Bakre came on as a substitute for Darlo but was later sent off.
Pharrell Willis was introduced late on as Maidstone United drew 1-1 with Tonbridge Angels in National League South, while George Gitau was on the bench for Raith Rovers’ win at Falkirk and Zach Hemming was not in action with St Mirren, with no Scottish Premiership games taking place at the weekend.
