Mark Travers will spend the remainder of the season at Boro after joining on loan from Premier League side Bournemouth.
Here is all you need to know about our newest January arrival…
- Originally from Maynooth in the Republic of Ireland, Travers was born in May 1999
- His first youth club was Confey in Leixlip before he later spent time with fellow Irish clubs Lucan United, Cherry Orchard and Shamrock Rovers
- Travers was a central midfielder until being converted to goalkeeper while at Lucan
- He was also a talented golfer who competed around the country in Irish Boys’ events before focusing on football
- After previously rejecting a move to Crystal Palace, Travers signed for Bournemouth at the age of 17 in July 2016
- A year later, he headed out on loan to Weymouth in the Southern League
- The goalkeeper marked his first senior appearance in some style, scoring with a 75-yard free-kick as he lobbed his opposite number, helping his new team to a 3-2 win
- Travers made 26 appearances for Weymouth before returning to Bournemouth, where he signed a new long-term contract
- He made his debut for the Cherries against Tottenham Hotspur in May 2019, becoming the first teenage goalkeeper since Joe Hart 13 years earlier to start a Premier League game. A string of saves and a clean sheet earned him the Man of the Match award
- After making a handful of further appearances, Travers was loaned to Swindon Town in January 2021 before being recalled a month later after eight appearances
- He began the 2021/22 season as Bournemouth’s first-choice goalkeeper in the Sky Bet Championship and started 45 of their 46 league games as the Cherries were promoted in second place
- Travers made 12 Premier League appearances the following season and was loaned out to Stoke City for the 2023/24 campaign. He made 14 appearances before being recalled in October 2023 following an injury to Bournemouth first-choice Neto
- He made four Premier League appearances last season and has five to his name this time around for the Europe-chasing Cherries
- At international level, Travers represented the Republic of Ireland from Under-15 to Under-21 levels, and made his senior debut in September 2019
- That is one of four senior caps the goalkeeper has won for his country
