Boro Women's U23s beat York City Development 4-0 on Sunday to reach the County Cup final.

Another dominant performance from the U23s booked their place in the County Cup final, where they will face York City LFC first team.

The game started well, with Boro keeping the ball well and probing the York back line and midfield looking for the first goal.

The breakthrough came just before the half-hour mark, with Meadow Boyle recycling the ball and firing into the bottom corner from 20 yards with a great finish.

Minutes later Annabelle Thomas got on the scoresheet, finding the far top corner directly from a corner to double Boro's lead.

The second half continued in much the same light, with plenty of rotation from the Boro bench providing different challenges and opportunities across the pitch.

Tiana Hudson got herself in on the action on 75 minutes, finding the back of the net from outside of the box for another high-quality finish.

Maddie Myers' goal sealed the win just before the final whistle, meeting a great Amber Rodgers corner with an equally good finish, taking the pair to 40 goal contributions this season between them.

On the win, U23s Head Coach, Matt Gatiss said: "I'm delighted with the performance, with the girls showing a professional maturity to control the game and strike at key moments.

"We've worked on dominating play over the past few sessions and that was evident particularly in the first half as we moved the ball effectively.

"We spoke prior to the game about subs being finishers and making an impact when they came on and they delivered too, each carrying out their roles effectively.

"I'm so proud of what this group has achieved this season and can't wait to see them represent the club in the County's top competition."

The date and venue of our U23s County Cup final is still yet to be announced.
