Hailing from Canning Town, East London, Chuba was courted by local club West Ham United before joining Arsenal’s academy at the age of six

An early developer, Chuba was playing for Arsenal’s Under-18 side when still only 15 and signed his first professional contract at the club in October 2012, a day after his 17th birthday.

Two months later, he was involved in Arsenal’s senior squad for an away trip to Olympiakos in the Champions League and he continued to impress with Arsenal’s youth sides, scoring 13 in 20 U21 Premier League appearances during the 2012–13 season, including 10 goals in 10 games in the Elite Group stage.

The marksman made then his competitive debut for Arsenal in a 3-1 Premier League win over Sunderland in September 2013 before joining Brentford for the rest of the 2013/14 season.

Whilst on loan at the Bees, Chuba continued to represent Arsenal in the UEFA Youth League, scoring three goals in four appearances, and the FA Youth Cup, bagging a hat trick against Peterborough United.

After spells with Coventry City and Nottingham Forest, Chuba joined Hull City on loan in August 2015, bagging twice in his first two matches.

He became an important part of the Tigers’ successful promotion campaign, with 19 starts, 16 sub appearances, and seven goals to his name including an FA Cup hat-trick against Bury.

Chuba was also part of another Championship promotion the following campaign, spending time on loan with second-tier runners-up Brighton and Hove Albion.

His final loan stint from Arsenal saw Chuba travel to Belgian First Division side Sint-Truiden, where he netted six times in 16 games.

In August 2018, Chuba made a permanent move away from Arsenal, joining Greek Super League side PAOK in the country’s second city of Thessaloniki.

Despite starting the season with a points deduction, PAOK won the league title for the first time in 34 years, in Chuba’s first season with the club. PAOK went the entire league season unbeaten and drew just four times.

Chuba also scored the only goal and was named MVP as PAOK retained the Greek Cup crown for 2019 with a 1-0 win over AEK Athens.

After the departure of fellow forward Aleksandar Prijovic, Chuba became PAOK’s main man up top for 2019/20, increasing his tally to 18 goals for the club. 

Chuba left PAOK on a high note - victories over Besiktas and Benfica had the Greek club on the brink of qualifying for the Champions League proper for the first time in their history.

After his first season with Boro, he returned to PAOK on loan for the 2021/22 season.

Battling his way back into the fold for the 22/23 campaign, Chuba netted both goals in a 2-2 draw against Sheffield United before bagging four consecutively during the opening games of Michael Carrick’s tenure.

Chuba has played for England’s youth teams at every level from Under-16 to Under-21 and scored a total of twenty times for the Young Lions’ various age groups. 

He also qualifies to play for Nigeria internationally - Chuba’s parents are Nigerian, and his dad and grandad both played the game in the West African country.
