Bio

George, who hails from Manchester, started his footballing career at Oldham Athletic, where he made his senior debut in 2015.

The centre-back became a regular in the 2018/19 season and made 79 appearances for the Latics at senior level, while also cutting his teeth in non-league in three separate loan spells.

After being named in the League Two Team of the Season, Glasgow giants Rangers took a keen interest, signing him permanently in the summer of 2019.

In his first season north of the border, George earned the nickname 'The Fridge', making 16 appearances and scoring in a Europa League tie against Bayer Leverkusen.

He appeared just two times the following campaign - a season which saw Rangers win the Scottish Premiership title - and after a loan spell at Derby County, he moved to Ipswich Town in the summer of 2021.

George made a huge impact on and off the pitch at Portman Road, and was named EFL Player in the Community in 2023.

He made 75 appearances as Ipswich won remarkable back-to-back promotions to reach the Premier League, and he made his debut at that level against Manchester City in August 2024.

A deadline day loan switch to Boro followed, and after impressive start to life on Teesside, the move was made permanent in the January window.

George ended his first season at Boro with 24 appearances to his name and one goal, away to Watford.
