Bio

Sam was born in Sunderland and started his career with local side Hebburn Town before joining the Black Cats Academy.

He was targeted by Arsenal at the age of 16 and left Sunderland to join the London club for a substantial amount of compensation, reported to be in the region of £500,000.

Sam didn’t make an appearance for the Gunners and he moved to Leeds as an 18-year-old in the summer of 2020.

Signed by Marcelo Bielsa for a seven-figure sum, he made an immediate impact on the Leeds youth set-up by collecting the PL2 Player of the Month award for September 2020.

His Leeds debut came as a second-half substitute when they were trailing to Crawley in the FA Cup third round in 2021.

His second appearance came at Arsenal in the Carabao Cup before making his Premier League debut against the same opposition later that season.

Sam’s first Premier League goal came in a 4-3 win against AFC Bournemouth in November 2022 and he made 25 appearances for the Whites in the top-flight.

Sam has also been capped at England for every level from U17 to U21.
