We spoke to Pharrell Willis after the Boro youngster signed a new contract at the club until 2025...

Impressing in the Academy set-up, Pharrell was rewarded with a spot on the bench in our latest Championship fixture, making his debut with a substitute appearance at Bloomfield Road.

"It’s a great feeling," said the 19-year-old after putting pen to paper on his latest deal. "I’ve been here for three years and completed my scholarship here.

"I signed my first professional contract in August. I just kicked on and had a great start to the season. The new gaffer came in and gave me an opportunity and I’ve taken it. It’s a proud moment."

Bagging eight goals for our U18s during the 2020/21 season, Pharrell was promoted to the U21 squad last campaign and continued to impress with his quick feet and pinpoint deliveries.

His imposing displays caught the eye of new Head Coach Michael Carrick with the teenager included in a matchday squad for the first time against Blackpool on Tuesday.

Pharrell added: "Reading the line-ups when I’m at home on Instagram, I often think I wish my name was there and it happened so fast. It was a very proud moment.

"I’ve been doing this my whole life and I just can’t wait to keep pushing and hopefully there’ll be many more great achievements to come.

"The gaffer has come in when we were near the bottom of the league and it was a risk to put youngsters out as he has. I’m just very thankful for him putting his trust in me."
