Hayden Hackney registered an assist for England's Under-21s as they eased past Serbia on Saturday.
The Boro man started in midfield for Lee Carsley's side in Bačka Topola, and had a hand in the opening goal as his pressue saw James McAtee take possession and fire home via a deflection.
And Hackney was involved again in England and McAtee's second ahead of half-time, a simple square pass to the Sheffield United man, who drilled in from distance.
Fellow midfielder Harvey Elliott added a third and final goal of the game in the second period, though Hackney could have added another assist to his tally, curling a pass into the feet of debutant Jay Stansfield who turned sharply and saw a shot strike the post.
Elsewhere for Boro's internationals, Paddy McNair featured for Northern Ireland who lost 4-0 to Finland on Friday.
Sammy Silvera and Seny Dieng were unused substitutes as Australia and Senegal made strong starts to their World Cup qualification campaigns. The Socceroos hammered Bangladesh 7-0, while Senegal beat South Sudan 4-0.
Rav van den Berg was also an unused sub for Netherlands Under-21s, who edged out Gibraltar 1-0.
