Chris Wilder and Isaiah Jones have been nominated for the Sky Bet Championship's Manager and Player of the Month awards for December.

It caps an impressive month for the duo which saw Boro win four Championship games, against Swansea City, Bournemouth, Nottingham Forest and Blackpool, and draw the other away to Stoke City.

December was Wilder's first full month in charge of the club, and the run of results propelled Boro firmly back in to the division's play-off picture.

The nomination announcement from Sky Bet said: "The subtle changes he has made at the Riverside since arriving in November are paying off royally with 13 points from five unbeaten games and just a single goal conceded. Energy levels, confidence and optimism are all on the up."

The Boro boss is up against Huddersfield's Carlos Corberan, Blackburn's Tony Mowbray and Derby's Wayne Rooney in the running for the award.

Meanwhile, Isaiah Jones' breakout season reached new heights last month, the winger netting his first senior goal to seal victory over Swansea, and adding two more assists to his tally of six for the campaign.

His nomination read: "The dynamic 22-year-old contributed four clean sheets, the only goal against Swansea, both assists in the win at Blackpool and a run for the decisive penalty against Bournemouth - not bad for a wing-back in his debut EFL season."

The other nominees are John Buckley of Blackburn, Morgan Gibbs-White of Sheffield United, and Harry Toffolo of Huddersfield.

The judging panel for the awards comprises Sky Sports’ EFL expert Don Goodman, EFL Communications Director Mark Rowan and Sky Bet EFL trader Ivor Davies.
