The club was saddened to learn of the passing of our former player David Shearer.
David, who hailed from Inverness, sadly passed away on Sunday at the age of 63.
The striker made 112 appearances for the club between 1977 and 1983 and scored 30 goals.
Signed from Scottish Highland League outfit Clachnacuddin, David scored twice on his Boro debut, against Chelsea, and four of his 30 goals in a Boro shirt against the great Liverpool side of the time.
He also bagged seven goals in the first nine games of the 1980/81 season as he established himself as a regular.
David joined Grimsby in 1983 before heading for Gillingham where he clocked up over a century appearances for the Priestfield club.
He also had spells with Bournemouth, Scunthorpe, Darlington, and Billingham Synthonia.
Our thoughts are with his family and friends.
