Midfielder Riley McGree was delighted to be asked to open Teesside Hospice's new shop on Yarm High Street on Wednesday.

The World Cup-bound Australian took time out after training to visit the new shop and cut the ribbon to perform the official opening ceremony.

"It's great to be asked to do something like this," he said.

"I might not be from the area, but I'm settling in well and I've always been keen to support charities and good causes.

"The shop looks great, the guys from the Hospice are all really pleased, and I'm sure it will be well supported by people from Yarm and beyond.

"People know they will be supporting a great cause."

Our former captain Ben Gibson is an ambassador for the Hospice and a long-time supporter of the charity.

The new shop, which is situated near Yarm Town Hall, reported a brisk opening day of business.
