England Under-17 international Sonny Finch has signed his first professional contract with the club.
The teenage striker celebrated his 17th birthday on Friday by putting pen to paper on a three-year contract.
Sonny, who hails from Houghton-le-Spring, scored eight goals in 29 appearances during his first year as a scholar, including two for our U23s. He also made three appearances for England U17s last term.
Having been with the club since U12 level, he linked up with the senior squad during the summer and scored his first goal in the friendly at York City.
Sonny was also part of the group which travelled to Portugal and he was a non-playing member of the first team squad for last weekend's Championship opener against West Brom.
