It's 30 years ago this week that Premier League football first came to Teesside.
Sky TV branded the formation of the league as "A whole new ball game" when in reality it was simply a new name for the English top division that came with a mega millions broadcasting deal that was ultimately to change football as we knew it.
Having won promotion to the top division the previous May - a 2-1 win at Wolves ensuring Lennie Lawrence's Boro were back among the elite - the club became one of the 22 founding member clubs.
Of those orginal members, Wimbledon folded and re-started, Oldham Athletic are in the National League and no less than 11 of those founding clubs has played in the third tier at some point since that inagaural Premier League season.
Can you name the Boro player who featured in Sky's Premier League advert, below, in August 1992?
Having been relegated from the top division in 1989, Boro's first game back - and the first in the newly-named Premier League - was at Coventry, where Paul Wilkinson scored our goal in a 2-1 defeat.
The first home game came the following Wednesday when 15,369 watched a 2-0 win against Manchester City. Bernie Slaven scored two in the space of three first half minutes.
The first week came to something of a remarkable conclusion after that, though, with our second Ayresome Park outing.
Defending league champions Leeds United were the visitors and they were blown away on a memorable afternoon on Teesside.
Wilkinson scored twice in the opening nine minutes, Tommy Wright added a third two minutes before half-time, and John Hendrie wrapped it up before the hour as we romped to a 4-1 win.
Here's a look back to that week...
The Leeds game proved to be a very early high in a season that started so well, but faded quickly in the new year.
Having beaten title challenging title challenging Blackburn 3-2 to go 11th in December, a slide down the table started that saw us sitting in 22nd after losing 4-0 at Chelsea in April.
Late season wins against Tottenham and Sheffield Wednesday were the final bright spots in a season that ended in relegation.
It wasn't until 1995 that we returned to the top division, but when we did, it was in a fantastic new stadium and we were joined by a certain Juninho for the first time.
