A fairytale run in the FA Cup was ended by Chelsea, but not before a proud showing from a capacity Riverside, not only in support of their team but also war-torn Ukraine, with all gate proceeds donated to the country’s humanitarian aid.

Under the stewardship of interim boss Leo Percovich, Boro picked up a first away win since April with youngster Hayden Hackney on the scoresheet for the first time in a 4-1 win at Wigan.
Michael Carrick Appointed Head Coach
24 October
Following a highly-decorated playing career with Manchester United, Michael Carrick was handed his first permanent head coaching role at the Boro in late October, an exciting appointment that would ultimately see the club climb up the league and into the play-off places by the end of the year.

After a gut-wrenching late loss in his first match at the helm, Boro earned a first win of the Carrick era at Hull City, showing character to recover from a fluke equaliser for the hosts to secure a 3-1 success.

12 November
Riley McGree prepared for his World Cup adventure with a stunning scissor kick to level things up at Norwich, and Matt Crooks slammed home in stoppage time to seal an excellent away day victory.

Another day, another Crooks late show on Boro's return to action following the World Cup, ‘the tree’ planting in another goal in time added on to see us beat Luton Town after Chuba Akpom’s leveller in the first half.

Chuba Akpom, whose revitalisation has been one of the stories of Boro’s season, netted an exceptional hat-trick in front of a sold out Riverside on Boxing Day - a first treble for any Boro player since 2018 and one that moved the striker joint top of the Sky Bet Championship’s highest scorers list.
