Boro legend Stewart Downing is taking his first steps in coaching at Rockliffe.
Downing, a graduate of the Boro Academy, made over 400 appearances for the club during two spells and also played for Aston Villa, Liverpool, West Ham and Blackburn Rovers.
He has returned in a part-time role, working with the age groups, and is the latest in a line of former players who are coaching at the club.
Jonathan Woodgate, Lee Cattermole, Grant Leadbitter, Joe Fryer, and Malcolm Christie are among the former players to return in various capacities.
Academy manager Craig Liddle said: "It's great to see these former players back and coaching.
"They know the club and what it's all about. They have a wealth of experience and knowledge and that can only benefit the young players here.
"In Stewy's case, he has been through our Academy and had a tremendous career, and we're delighted to have him working with our youngsters."
