Sol Brynn kept his 12th clean sheet for Swindon Town, playing out a 0-0 draw with play-off chasing Barrow.

The young goalkeeper, who last week saw Boro exercise an extension clause in his contract, made a spring of stirring saves to clinch a point at the County Ground.

Elsewhere in League Two, Calum Kavanagh made an appearance from the bench in Newport’s 2-0 win over Hartlepool.

In the Championship, Joe Lumley recorded a seventh clean sheet of the season thanks to an impressive showing at home to runaway leaders Burnley.

The Clarets have banked 78 goals on their way to Premier League promotion, second most in the division, behind Boro on 79, but could not find a route to goal in Berkshire as the Royals picked up a valuable point in their battle against the drop.

A tier up, Josh Coburn was a second-half substitute for Bristol Rovers in their fightback against Derby County. Joey Barton’s men secured a late point at the Memorial Stadium, Anthony Evans slotting home a penalty in the 95th minute.

Across the border, Hayden Coulson was introduced in the final knockings of Aberdeen’s 1-0 triumph at Ross County. The Dons, under the stewardship of former Boro captain Barry Robson, have qualified for the Championship group in the Scottish Premiership after six straight wins.

In the National League, Kamil Conteh played the final half an hour of Gateshead’s defeat to Bromley. The 3-0 reverse ended the Heed’s 10-match unbeaten run but there is now a six-point buffer between themselves and 21st-placed Torquay with four matches remaining.
