Boro’s three goalkeeping loanees made maiden league appearances for their new clubs over the weekend.
Liam Roberts was involved in one of the standout results across the pyramid on Saturday, a seven-goal thrashing at Oakwell. Thankfully for the keeper, it was the opposite net that was where the action was as his Barnsley side put Port Vale to the sword in a 7-0 success.
Zach Hemming also made a winning start to the league campaign with St Mirren, who edged Hibernian 3-2 thanks to a late winner from Alex Grieve, with former Boro man Toyosi Olusanya also on the scoresheet for the Saints. It was actually a fifth appearance and fourth victory for Hemming with his new side, who have already beaten Arbroath, Cowdenbeath and Forfar in the group stages of the Scottish League Cup.
Sol Brynn was in goal for Leyton Orient for the first time, as they were beaten 1-0 across the capital at Charlton Athletic, George Dobson scoring the game’s only goal.
