A strong Nottingham Forest B team twice came from behind to hold Boro U21s to a draw at Meadow Lane on Monday.
Goals from Jack Stott and AJ Bridge twice gave Mark Tinkler's side the advantage, but the hosts hit back each time.
It took just seven minutes for Boro to open the scoring when Forest keeper Aaron Bott palmed away a cross and youngster Stott pounced with a clinical finish.
Forest were back on terms on the half-hour, Zach Abbott heading home a cross from deep at the far post.
Boro were back in front before half-time when Dan Nkrumah won a free-kick on the edge of the box and Bridge scored with a great strike.
Nathan Fisher was called upon to make a good save before the half-time whistle while it took some good defending to keep Boro out shortly after the break.
Forest were level again with 20 minutes remaining when Alex Mighten headed home an Ateef Konate corner to make it 2-2.
Boro: Fisher, Sykes, Hannah, Agyemang, Collins (Beals 78), Simpson, Bilongo, Bridge (Traore 84), Howells, Stott (McCabe 83), Nkrumah (Matthews 84).
