Boro will play host to Premier League Aston Villa in the third round of the Emirates FA Cup
Michael Carrick's men were drawn at home to the Villans on Sunday afternoon.
The Teessiders last faced Villa in 2019, the same season in which the Birmingham-based outfit would clinch promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs.
Ties will be played on the weekend of 6 January.
