Josh Coburn has signed a four-year contract with the club, taking him to the end of the 2026/27 season.

The 20-year-old is rewarded for his continued development after spending last season on loan at Bristol Rovers.

The Bedale-born marksman burst on to the scene at the end of the 2020/21 season and he scored his first senior goal on his home debut, against Sheffield Wednesday.

He followed that by scoring five goals in 22 appearances the following season, including the winning goal against Tottenham Hotspur at a sell-out Riverside Stadium.

Last term, Josh bagged 10 goals from 27 league starts for Bristol Rovers where he spent the full campaign on loan. He was named the club's Young Player of the Year and also won Goal of the Season.

Josh was part of Michael Carrick’s squad for the pre-season camp in Portugal, but left early after picking up a slight injury and he has missed the friendlies so far.
