The pre-season campaign continued in earnest at Bradford City with Sammy Silvera, Alex Gilbert and Dan Nkrumah scoring as a young Boro side picked up more valuable game time.
It took Boro just four minutes to take the lead. Izzy Jones was released down the right and he squared for Silvera to bag his second goal of pre-season.
Former Boro defender Sam Stubbs got up well at a corner to direct a header on target, but Jack Hannah read play well and was there to clear.
But Bradford were soon level after Andy Cook capitalised on a defensive slip to convert from close range.
Boro’s lead was restored on the half-hour when ex-Boro man Richie Smallwood brought down Jones for a clear penalty, and Gilbert stepped up to score from the spot.
Bradford’s second equaliser came shortly before the break and it was Cook again, this time heading home a cross.
The fifth goal of the game was in the home side’s favour and it was Matty Platt who swept home from close range after a cross was headed back into the danger zone.
Boro almost responded, courtesy of Silvera, but his effort was blocked.
While the home side made a raft of changes midway through the second half, Boro made just one at the same point, Jamie Jones replacing Tom Glover.
Carrick’s next changes saw the introduction of teenager Fin Cartwright and Dan Nkrumah.
And it was Nkrumah who opened his account in Boro colours with just 50 seconds left on the clock when he scored to make it 3-3 after good work by Jones and Silvera.
