Boro Women are set for their final home game of 2023, welcoming FC United of Manchester to the MAP Group UK Stadium, looking to bounce back from the penalties defeat against Hull City in the Women’s FA Cup last time out.

The game finished 0-0 in regulation time, despite an inspired Boro performance, but the Tigresses advanced with a 4-2 penalties victory.

Boro were scheduled to take on Chorley last weekend, but due to a postponed game for Chorley in the Women’s FA Cup, this game has been rescheduled to Sunday 19 November.

The Opposition

FC United of Manchester are a fairly new side to the Women’s football pyramid, having been formed just over a decade ago in 2012, but have had considerable success since then.

This season marks the club’s second stint in the fourth tier, following their immediate promotion from the North West Women's Regional Football League in their season after relegation in 2021/22.

Although ‘the Reds’ currently sit bottom of the standings, they have picked up some impressive results this season, and are still alive and fighting in all two of three cup competitions.

“It’s good to be back playing in the league again after a weekend of training last week and the FA Cup tie against Hull City two weeks ago.”

“The game will be tough and we will have to show both patience and resilience if we are to get what we want from the match.”

“The players have worked hard in the training environment so hopefully they can express themselves this afternoon.”
