Jeremy Sivi was handed his first start for new club Harrogate Town on Tuesday evening.
After joining the League Two club in the final hours of the transfer window last Friday, the young forward pulled on the black and yellow shirt for the first time in last night's EFL Trophy match against Nottingham Forest's Under-21s.
Sivi, who had made one senior appearance as a substitute for Boro in the Carabao Cup two years ago, started out wide for Town, with former teammate on Teesside Sam Folarin up top. Forest, meanwhile, included experienced ex-Brazil international Felipe in defence, and new arrival Callum Hudson-Odoi on the flank.
Boro man Sivi had an impressive evening and drew one excellent stop from George Shelvey in the Reds net. Goals from George Thomson and Anthony O'Connor won the contest for Harrogate, despite a late consolation from Detlef Esapa Osong for Forest.
Boss Simon Weaver told press: "I thought that he was great, he showed a lot of ability. He is going to be a handful for League Two defences.
"He is quick, he is aggressive on the front foot, he is unpredictable, so I think that he can make a good impact.
"He gave his all for the team. I love his desire to go and press and work hard, he is totally our type of player.
"I thought that he did well in both roles. He has got good legs and athleticism, so he can be direct as a winger but we wanted to have a look at him straight down the middle.
"He nearly scored and I thought he was excellent overall."
Elsewhere in the EFL Trophy, Sol Brynn kept his place in goal for Leyton Orient, who went one up at Gillingham, but lost two men to red cards and were eventually edged out by two late goals from the hosts.
