Fan-favourite George Friend is set to return to Teesside next month for a Q&A session at our end of season awards ceremony.

An adopted Teessider, George was part of our promotion-winning side of 2016 and racked up 299 appearances for the Boro.

Part of a formidable backline that leaked just 31 goals across the 2015/16 season, the marauding left-back skippered the side in the Premier League during the absence of Grant Leadbitter before assuming the role on a permanent basis when the midfielder departed the club in 2019.

Staying on to play during the Covid 2019/20 campaign, despite the season closing after the expiration of his contract, he departed for Birmingham City in August 2020 and later turned out for Bristol Rovers, where he assumed the role of Director of Football upon announcing his retirement earlier this year.

George will be taking questions from the audience at our Player of the Season Awards at Middlesbrough Town Hall on Thursday 2 May.

General tickets are on sale at £30pp with 2023/24 Season Card holders able to take advantage of a discounted price of £25pp.

Hosted by BBC Radio Tees presenter Gary Philipson, guests will hear exclusive live interviews from head coach Michael Carrick, Boro Women manager Michael Mulhern, captains Jonny Howson and Sarah Burn, and our award winners; who will be voted for by Boro fans in the coming weeks.

There will be live music plus special guest appearances on the evening too.

VIP tickets are priced at £1,500 per table of 10 or £150pp. All tickets are subject to a £2.50pp booking fee.
