Despite a nervy ending, Liam Roberts and Barnsley secured a play-off spot on the final day in League One.

The goalkeeper played as the Tykes - who had parted company with boss Neill Collins earlier in the week - drew 1-1 with Northampton Town to get over the line.

Northampton's stoppage-time equaliser could have proved fatal for Barnsley's hopes, but elsewhere Lincoln City lost to Championship-bound Portsmouth while Blackpool - and Hayden Coulson - were beaten 3-2 at Reading to ensure that a point was enough.

Barnsley will now take on Bolton Wanderers in the two-legged semi-final.

Sol Brynn was an unused substitute for Leyton Orient, who sealed a top-half finish with a 3-1 win at Shrewsbury Town. The keeper was presented with Orient's Supporters Club Away Player of the Season on Sunday.

In League Two, Jeremy Sivi was on the bench as Harrogate Town drew 2-2 with Salford City.

In Scotland, Zach Hemming was in goal for St Mirren on Sunday as they were edged out 2-1 by title-chasing Rangers.

In the Northern Premier League, Fenton John signed off in style with Morpeth Town, bagging the final two goals in a 6-0 rout of Stafford Rangers. Fenton was named the club's Young Player of the Season in their awards ceremony at the weekend.

Whitby Town also finished the campaign strongly, with both Max Howells and Ben Beals involved in a 2-0 win over second-placed Macclesfield.
