A locally owned opticians has extended its partnership with the club.

Specsavers Middlesbrough have renewed their contract with the club, confirming their support for the 2024/2025 season for both men’s and women’s teams.

Since opening its doors on Newport Road in 1986, the Middlesbrough Specsavers store has been locally owned and operated, serving up to 2,000 Teessiders each week with top-quality optical and audiology services.

To celebrate the contract extension with the club, Specsavers store directors Phillip Bird, Martin Dillon, and Naseer Mohammed are extending the offer of free eye tests for all season ticket holders until the final league game of the season.

Phil Bird, says: "Middlesbrough FC is at the centre of our community, and we are privileged to be part of the journey ahead. It means more care and affordable expertise for the local community. Seeing so many fans take advantage of the free eye tests last year was fantastic, and we look forward to seeing an even greater uptake this year.

"We are all very proud to support both men’s and women’s teams, especially when both have their sights on promotion – an exciting time to be involved – UTB!"

The store is hoping that the offer means more customers will be able to pay for the advanced Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) technology, which captures detailed 3D images of the eye’s interior. This cutting-edge technology helps detect serious eye conditions, such as glaucoma, up to four years earlier than traditional methods.

The store also provides comprehensive contact lens services, including daily, bi-monthly, and monthly prescriptions.

Middlesbrough FC’s Head of Commercial, Liam McGuinness, says: "It's an honour to have such a reputable brand partnering with us and a delight to be able to offer free eye tests to all Season Ticket holders until our last game of the league in May next year."
