The club welcomed 100 Boro fans to the Riverside on Wednesday evening for our first crest workshop.

Following feedback from Middlesbrough Supporters Forum, the club has proposed making a change to its crest in line with the upcoming 150th anniversary of MFC in 2026.

While we have since sent out an initial survey to supporters over the summer, this event was chance for a selection of fans to have their say face-to-face on whether they feel there should be a change and, if so, what that change could look like.

Supporters of all ages and backgrounds filled out the Legends Lounge, where they first listened to club author Anthony Vickers for a potted history of the Boro crest so far.

After that, the room was divided into smaller groups where - in the presence of a member of MFC or MFC Foundation staff taking notes - fans were invited to lead the conversation and give their feedback.

It was a night of lively discussion and debate, not only on the crest itself but also what it means to be a Boro fan. There were plenty of differing viewpoints on offer, but also many points of similarity when the room reconvened to give feedback.

Following the response this initial event being announced, the club is looking to plan a similar event but staged online, offering chance for fans unable to attend the Riverside to take part. Please keep an eye on the club website and social media for news of this event.

There will also be further consultation as the project progresses. The club is in the process of employing an independent research company to offer additional, independent findings and strengthen data already gathered from fans. Please ensure you're opted in to club communications if you wish to be part of this process.
