Boro travel to Elland Road for the second time this season on Tuesday.

Michael Carrick's side triumphed 3-0 in the Carabao Cup in August and will now be aiming to make it two wins from two against the Whites.

Ahead of the Sky Bet Championship clash, here is a closer look at Leeds...

The background

Leeds are in their second season in the Championship following their relegation from the Premier League in 2023.

They narrowly missed out on an immediate return to the top flight, having lost in last season's play-off final to Southampton.

The Whites are targeting promotion again this time out, and go into this fixture firmly in the picture for a top two place.

Standout results so far this season have included a 2-0 victory over Sheffield United and a last-gasp 4-3 win at Swansea City.

The boss

Leeds have been led by Daniel Farke since his appointment as manager in the summer of 2023.

Farke has two Championship promotions on his CV, having won the division twice with Norwich City during a four-and-a-half-year spell at Carrow Road.

The German's time at Norwich was his first stint as a senior manager, having previously been in charge of Borussia Dortmund's second string.

He managed Krasnodar and Borussia Monchengladbach between his two spells in England, and narrowly missed out on a third promotion to the Premier League last season.

Key players

Wilfried Gnonto is among Leeds' most important figures, with the tricky forward a constant threat to opposing back-lines. A senior Italian international, Gnonto joined the Whites in 2022.

Goalkeeper Illan Meslier is a former France Under-21 international with significant Premier League and Championship experience, while there are a number of players to look out for at the top end of the pitch.

They include summer arrival Largie Ramazani, young Spanish striker Mateo Joseph, American international Brenden Aaronson and ex-Swansea City striker Joel Piroe.

Joe Rodon and Pascal Struijk are reliable presences at the back while midfielder Ao Tanaka has hit the ground running since signing in the summer.

Past meetings

The teams met in the first round of the Carabao Cup this season, with goals from Anfernee Dijksteel, Delano Burgzorg and Josh Coburn sealing a 3-0 victory for Boro.

Last season's league meetings produced 12 goals and two narrow wins for Leeds.
