The Chris Cave Foundation has been presented with a cheque for £14,000 after Boro's match-worn 'No More Red' shirts were auctioned.
As part of a powerful campaign to highlight the devastating impact of knife crime in our region, Boro took to the pitch for November's match against Coventry City wearing all white Errea kits in place of the club’s usual iconic red.
Supporters were then able to bid on those unique match-worn items, and help raise money for the Chris Cave Foundation in the process.
Chris Cave was an innocent and fatal victim of knife crime in Redcar in 2003, aged just 17, and his mother Theresa established the Foundation in his name in 2005. Theresa spoke pitchside ahead of the Coventry match, reinforcing the importance of the ‘No More Red’ message and the impact of this campaign, particularly among young people.
The Chris Cave Foundation supports and educates families and local communities affected by violent crimes, while providing an outlet for young people influenced by violent crime to focus their energy and gain new skills.
The auction was hosted by MFC Foundation, with the chosen provider selected in order to minimise fees and ensure the maximum proceeds were donated to the Chris Cave Foundation.
