The lowdown on our first January arrival, Finn Azaz.
Finn was born in the City of Westminster, London, on 7 September 2000.
He began his career with the West Brom Academy where he’d develop alongside now Boro teammates Morgan Rogers and Alex Gilbert.
His first taste of the senior game came in a loan with Cheltenham Town in the 2020/21 season. His professional debut was a Carabao Cup win over Peterborough United, and he scored his first goal in a defeat to Millwall in the same competition later that month.
Cheltenham won the League Two title with Finn an integral part - playing a total of 44 times for the Robins, scoring three and assisting two.
In summer 2021, Finn was snapped up by Aston Villa, and immediately loaned back out to League Two with Newport County.
It was another successful campaign for the youngster, making a total of 45 appearances, scoring seven times and assisting eight more. Finn was awarded the League Two Young Player of the Season award as well as being named in the League Two Team of the Season.
The following year, Finn was out on loan once more, and made the step up to League One with Plymouth Argyle. It was another title-winning season for the midfield man, with Argyle racking up a huge 101 points to claim top spot in a highly competitive race for promotion. Finn had played a total of 39 times, scored eight goals - including Argyle’s first and last of the season - and laid on nine assists.
He also appeared at Wembley for the Green Army that year, coming off the bench in the Papa Johns Trophy final defeat to Bolton Wanderers.
Finn returned to Plymouth in another loan arrangement last summer as they stepped up to the Championship, and continued to impress. He played 26 more times for the Devonshire outfit in the first half of this season and notched up another seven goals and five assists - including one of each against Boro in our 3-3 draw at Home Park back in November.
Finn is of Israeli and Irish descent. He has represented the Republic of Ireland at Under-21 level, and coincidentally made his debut against Israel in a Euro Under-21 qualification play-off.
