Boro duo Riley McGree and Sammy Silvera featured as Australia got off to a winning start in the Asian Cup.

The paIr came off the bench for the final half-hour of the Socceroos 2-0 win against India at the weekend.

Despite dominating, it wasn't until the 50th minute that Australia took the lead, Jackson Irvine scoring.

The second goal came with 15 minutes remaining, McGree having a role as Jordan Bos doubled the advantage.

Australia top Group B after one round of games and now face Syria in Doha on Thursday.

“We take it game by game, and hopefully, the results can take care of themselves," said McGree.

“We want to play our brand of football, and we want to approach the game in the way, you know, we think will best suit.

“Every game is different, obviously, but we as a football team, and as a nation, we want to play good quality football and entertain.”
