We’re proud to be joining clubs across the country to celebrate Green Football Weekend from 2-4 February. 

The event coincides with Boro’s match against north east rivals Sunderland on Sunday 4 February, and as well as highlighting some of the work that goes in to make MFC a greener, more sustainable football club, we’re inviting our supporters to take part too.

Recycle Your Electricals

Bring your damaged or unwanted small electrical items to the match against Sunderland at the Riverside and we’ll collect them to be recycled. The two drop-off points are at the FanZone and outside the North Stand.

Vegetarian And Vegan Food

We’re proud to offer vegetarian and vegan food options at the kiosks on the Riverside concourses.

How about trying our Vegan Pie or Veggie Burger for a meat-free matchday meal?

Meanwhile, in our hospitality lounges, all menus are designed and prepared by our team of dedicated chefs who use seasonal, locally sourced ingredients wherever possible, with a range of delicious vegetarian and vegan options. Some sample dishes from this season's menus can be found below:

  • Plant Based Kofta on Warm Flat Bread with Roasted Pepper Houmous,  Roquette and Red Onion Salad and Sweet Potato Fries
  • Beetroot Wellington with Parisienne Potato,Celeriac Puree, Maple Glazed Roasted Beets and a Tarragon Jus
  • Red Thai Vegetable Curry with Braised Aromatic Rice, Coconut Shavings and Crunchy Asian Salad with Peanut Dressing 
  • Roasted Mediterranean Vegetables with Penne Pasta, Torched Vine Tomatoes and Parmesan Cheese with a Rustic Garlic, Tomato and Basil Sauce

Energy Saving

MFC are committed to energy saving and actively we encourage staff to reduce their energy usage. Through the club’s Environment and Energy Committee, we continually review energy usage at the Riverside Stadium, Rockliffe Park and Herlingshaw Centre, with an aim to drive down consumption and consider the environmental impact of our work.  

What Is EFL Green Clubs?

EFL Green Clubs is a voluntary, league-wide scheme that supports clubs across the country to improve their environmental practices and operations. Boro are one of 52 clubs currently on board, working with the scheme’s delivery partner, GreenCode, to assess the club’s environmental performance and discover steps for continual improvement.
