Michael Mulhern has been awarded for his impact and contribution to Lucy Bronze's development and career with the 2023 Coaching Chain Award.
The Boro Women boss joins Ray Smith, Doug Thoburn, Anson Dorrance, Chris Welburn, Maureen ‘Mo’ Marley, Matt Beard, Phil Neville and Sarina Wiegman in being recognised for their role in the growth and development of Bronze, England's most decorated female footballer.
Bronze was a key member of England’s European Championship success – England's first major trophy for a senior side since 1966 - and her success has inspired young girls across the globe to begin their football journey.
In the early stages of her career, Lucy played for Sunderland, where Mulhern guided her development from age 12 to 20, and he has been credited for spotting Bronze’s unique talent when he decided to play her as a midfielder, recognising that her exceptional ability meant she could play anywhere across the pitch.
On receiving the award Michael Mulhern said: "I'm honoured to receive the award, and proud to have played a role in Lucy's career, to see how far she has gone and the unbelievable level she has reached."
