The new Boro kit was on show for the first time this weekend in a training game at the club's Portuguese base.

Michael Carrick's men came up against Vitoria SC, who finished fifth in the Primeira Liga last term, in a behind-closed-doors exercise.

The boss took the opportunity to hand most of his squad a run-out in a game which saw a different XI take the field in each half, plus further substitutions.

The Portuguese side, already well into their pre-season, won the game with two second half goals, but Carrick said the game was a good way to round off a good week.
