Michael Carrick has signed a new contract with Boro.

Our head coach has put pen to paper on a new three-year deal and he is looking forward to the future.

“I’m really happy about it," he said.

“I’ve always been quite calm about it. I think having that attachment, that trust and that belief within the club is really important.

“We’ve certainly got that - that’s what still gives me the great feeling that I had when I first walked through the door.

“It feels like a big step as a headline, as a statement, but really it doesn’t change anything I do or how I approach it, it just carries on what we’re trying to achieve.”

Carrick, one of English football's most decorated players, joined the club in October 2022.

In his first season, Boro reached the play-offs and last term, despite a lengthy injury list, brought about a Carabao Cup semi-final appearance and an eighth-placed finish, just four points away from the top six.
