The Riverside is set to host its first ever Iftar Dinner later this month, organised by the Amal Project Teesside in partnership with MFC Foundation.

The Amal Project Teesside and MFC Foundation have been working together since they helped support the Teesside community in the lockdown of 2020.

An Iftar (‘breaking the fast’) event is something Sahida Ditta, the founder of the Amal Project has wanted to make happen ever since to help bring the community closer together.

This Iftar Dinner will be the first in the history of MFC and as Sahida is very passionate about social solidarity it seems like a natural fit that Amal Project will lead on this initiative with full support from MFC Foundation

"This event will open the doors and make diverse communities feel like MFC is welcoming and accessible to them too," said a spokesperson.

"The talk of an Iftar Dinner at MFC has created such a buzz within the community and there are so many people that are really excited and looking forward to it.

"This may seem like such a small thing but for many this is something they never thought they would enjoy."

There will be 200 invited guests with representation from across the community. In addition to event sponsors there will be representation from all the mosques across Middlesbrough, Stockton and Thornaby with further representation from all the main diverse faith groups. We are inviting teachers and children from local schools and prominent individuals who work tirelessly for the betterment of the community including those from the charities, NHS, Cleveland Police, Ambulance and Fire Service.

The event will be focused around a family-friendly atmosphere and for many guests this will be their first ever visit to the club, we hope that it won’t be the last.
