MFC are formulating plans to introduce a new crest in line with the club’s upcoming 150th anniversary.

In response to widespread fan feedback around the current crest, the club is exploring the opportunity to coincide with the 150th celebrations, with a view to implementing the new design for the 2026/27 season and beyond.

We recognise that the crest is among the most significant representations of our club and matters hugely to Boro supporters. As such, supporters will be involved thoroughly and extensively in this process. That will be accompanied with a robust tendering procedure to invite contributions from external design experts.

We also recognise that this process requires due care, consideration, and clear communication - hence our confirmation of these plans now, allowing for the requisite time to deliver the desired outcome for our supporters.

The current Middlesbrough FC crest has been in use since 2007.

Lee Fryett, MFC’s Chief Commercial Officer said: “We’re excited to announce our intentions as we approach a significant milestone in Middlesbrough FC’s history.

“Any crest that is adopted must represent that proud history and what the club means to our supporters, as well as our vision for the future. We’re looking forward to working closely with the fans throughout the process.”

More details around this project and how supporters and other contributors can get involved will follow in due course.
