Boro captain Jonny Howson has extended his Boro stay with another year-long contract.
The evergreen 35-year-old's deal was due to expire at the end of the current campaign but, as has been the case in the past two summers, he has put pen to paper on an extension to keep him on Teesside for a further season.
Equally well respected in the dressing room and in the stands at the Riverside, Howson is now well in excess of 300 appearances in a red shirt, and last night picked up Players' Player of the Season at our End of Season Awards ceremony.
Head Coach Michael Carrick said: "Jonny is a prime example of what it takes. His age is irrelevant, he trains more or less every single day and hates missing anything, he's adamant he wants to do it and he can do it.
"He's a pleasure to have as the leader of our group and long may it continue."
