The club is supporting the development of a new ‘Singing Section’ in the Riverside Stadium’s South Stand next season, which includes an agreement to relocate supporters from the Red Faction fan group.
Michael Carrick and his players have repeatedly spoken about how much the backing of a passionate Riverside crowd means to the team and their performance, and the club are committed to facilitating a dedicated area where some of our most vocal supporters can thrive.
Following extensive discussions, the agreement reached includes moving the core Red Faction membership more centrally in the South Stand, and to a lower tier behind the goal - specifically Blocks 59 and 61, rows 1-3 - with the intention of creating a more unified South Stand atmosphere.
The club recognises the commitment of Red Faction over the past 15 years and their role in making the South Stand as one of the most active – visually and vocally - and desirable locations for Boro fans. We hope that this new position as a focal point of the new Singing Section will benefit that atmosphere in what promises to be an exciting new season. Supporters should note that the Singing Section will include drumming and flag waving, along with occasional fan-led displays.
This decision has not been taken lightly, and we also acknowledge that it is unavoidable that a small number of Season Ticket holders will be displaced by this change. The club have worked to ensure that this number is as small as possible, and contacted those affected individually to discuss and offer the best available alternatives.
