Michael Carrick has clocked up his second anniversary as Boro manager.

It has been two years since the club appointed Michael Carrick as the new head coach, and he is the third longest-serving head coach in the Sky Bet Championship.

From his first game at Preston North End to his 100th game against Sheffield United on Wednesday evening, he has had some memorable moments in the Boro dugout.

Indeed, his very first game at the helm was preceded by an unusual situation when the new head coach and his players walked the final stages of the trip to Deepdale after the team coach got stuck.

That game ended in a final-minute defeat, but days later he was celebrating a first win, away at Hull City when his side ran out 3-1 victors.

Over his first 100 games, the century coming in the Blades game in midweek, he has a 50% win percentage at the club, the best of any manager in the club's history to have taken charge of more than 20 games.

Life at Boro got off to a flying start for the head coach when his side won 16 of his first 23 games in charge.

At the end of his first season, Carrick guided Boro to the play-offs. Despite an impressive first season, his side fell short at the hands of Coventry City.

One of the most memorable nights for Boro fans under Carrick was the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg against Chelsea. A Hayden Hackney goal secured a 1-0 win against the Londoners.

Carrick has handed 35 debuts since his time in charge. Ten of those debutants have come through the Boro Academy, emphasising the continued development of the club's young talent.

During the summer, the gaffer committed his future to the club when he signed a new three-year contract.

So far this season, Carrick and his side have picked up 17 points and sit in 8th position in the league table. His Boro side have also created the most opportunities in the Championship this season and conceded the fewest chances.
