Two late goals sealed Boro Women's win over Durham Cestria.

Faced with injury, Michael Mulhern made four changes to his side that completed a cup upset over West Brom last week.

Faye Dale Grace Boyes and Emma Foster came in for their injured counterparts Keira Skelton, Jess Mett and Ellen Packham with Dale making her first start this season, while Ruby Cook came in for Laura Wareham in goal.

Amber Rodgers made her way onto the bench for the first time this season, after being promoted from the U23s squad after some good performances.

Boro almost took the lead inside the opening minute, as Armani Maxwell drove down the wing and beat her opposite number for pace and found Ellen Turnbull in the box, but her shot was just wide of the post.

In the opening minutes, Boro had some good chances mostly coming through Abby Towers' long-range passing, finding Leanna Giles and Turnbull in dangerous areas to either have a shot on goal or find a body lurking in the box, but Boro couldn't open the scoring.

One of Turnbull's crosses found Faye Dale in the box, but as she geared to shoot, the Durham 'keeper raced off her line to smother the effort and the sides remained level.

Turnbull was causing all sorts of problems for Durham down the wing, putting her marker on the back foot and winning free-kicks in dangerous areas.

And it would be from one of those free-kicks that Boro would take the lead, Robson's exceptional delivery found Millie Bell in the box who lept higher than anyone else to hammer her header in the back of the net.

Boro nearly doubled their lead just minutes later as Turnbull once again got involved, smashing an effort off the bar.

The half ended with the wind in Boro's sails, as Durham just held on after a barrage of Boro corners and crosses came their way, with Millie Bell unlucky to get a second, hitting her header off the bar.

The second half started quieter than the first ended as Durham chased the game and Boro happy to slow things down with a goal advantage.

Durham looked to press Boro high, but some good combination play between Boyes, Maxwell, Bell and Giles got Boro out of a tight area.

A goal to the good and just over an hour into the game, Michael Mulhern made a change, bringing Dale off for Sarah Burn.

Ellen Turnbull's cross-turned-shot almost saw Boro double their lead, it wasn't found by a Boro head, but just whisked wide of the post on its own.

Armani Maxwell had her chance to make it two for Boro late on, with her first touch sending her past her marker before hitting a shot aimed at the bottom-left corner but the 'keeper saved.

Just minutes later Sharna Wilkinson latched onto a loose ball that was trickling goalwards and fired at the 'keeper who saved well to keep it 1-0.

Bell found hers and Boro's second of the game with another header from a Robson delivery heading down into the ground and the bounce beating the 'keeper to double the scoring.

With a minute to go Leanna Giles found Boro's third as Armani Maxwell bared down on goal she slipped her shot under the 'keeper, but it fired off the post, where Giles was there to put away to give Boro the three goals as the full-time whistle went.
