Bucket Collection - Give a Duck Foundation
Today we welcome The Give A Duck Foundation who work with every principal treatment centre in the UK to ensure every child diagnosed with cancer receives teddy Duck with a bandana and a central line, called the 'Chemo Duck' to help them during their treatment.
Soft, yellow and cuddly but more importantly Chemo Duck is fitted with either a Hickman Line or Portacath to mirror the child, siblings are also given a duck to ensure no child is left out.
Once a month as an inpatient or outpatient, children can choose a new outfit for their duck (similar to build a bear) making hospital visits less scary and an exciting time.
Sophia, who is our very first home mascot for the Women’s Team, and her brothers who are joining in pitchside flag waving today, have their ducks dressed in an MFC strip kindly made and donated by Blue Light Babies.
Around the ground we will have donation buckets so please give what you can to support the Give a Duck Foundation.
