Summing up Boro’s January business…

Michael Carrick boosted his options with six new senior arrivals during the January transfer window.

The business got underway with a returning face as Ryan Giles made the switch from Humberside to Teesside for his second loan spell at the club.

Departing the club, Isaiah Jones headed for Luton Town in a permanent move after making 149 appearances for Boro.

Morgan Whittaker was next through the door. The forward arrived from Plymouth Argyle to bolster Carrick’s forward line.

After returning from Portsmouth, Sammy Silvera went on loan to Blackpool. Goalkeeper Zach Hemming was also recalled from Leyton Orient before heading back to St Mirren for the remainder of the season.

George Edmundson switched from Ipswich Town permanently after a loan stint earlier in the campaign.

Goalkeeper Mark Travers was Boro’s fourth January signing. The shot-stopper joined the club on loan from Premier League side Bournemouth.

Academy youngster Ajay Matthews departed for Millwall, while Matt Clarke left for Derby County in a permanent move.

On the final day of the transfer window, Boro made two more additions to the squad, the first of which was Samuel Iling-Junior. The versatile player joined on loan from Aston Villa until the end of the season.

Kelechi Iheanacho signed on loan until the end of the season from La Liga side Sevilla after being revealed to the Boro crowd ahead of our game against Sunderland.

Emmanuel Latte Lath left for MLS side Atlanta United, with the deal being a record for both MLS and Boro.

During the window, Boro also made additions to the academy set-up. The first was teenage prospect Brayden Johnson, who joined the club from National League South outfit Eastbourne Borough.

He was followed by Josh Dede, who also linked up with Mark Tinkler's side after moving from Celtic.
